There she is, Miss Attie…..

November 12, 2009

attie_1x600I finally found our beautiful spokesperson for the Attie awards.

Ladies and Gentlemen: Ms. Carrie Perjean.

I’m not giving the attie to her because of the original flap that started this whole debacle. I have no respect for Perez Hilton, or beauty pagents for that matter. Does anyone take either one of them seriously?

That’s what I thought.

Rather, Ms. Carrie is getting the Attie because of her shameless self promotion that has resulted from above event. Suddenly, someone (maybe herself, who knows?) has turned her into spokesperson for the “persecuted” conservative Christians in this country. And, to our discredit, Christians have bought what was being sold. Carrie is being seen and heard throughout all forms of media including her new book (anguished wanna be author scream).

Then, in the latest twist, she accused Larry King of asking inappropriate questions and walked of the set. It’s starting to become a train wreck.

I kinda feel sorry for her. The conservative Christian media are putting her in a position that will only bring disaster to her life. But, at the same time, she is also making absurd statements that “Christian women” are being persecuted. Carrie, not that you will ever read this blog, but The Thomas Society has already established that Christians in America are not persecuted. Please just stop. Or better yet, really read the Bible and figure out what Jesus wants you to do, love Him and love others, not go on Larry King and make a fool of yourself. Stop being a fake martyr and become a real one by taking up your cross.

St. Thomas, release the hounds….

I am delighted to report that I have no idea who Carrie Perjean is. Though I may regret it, I’m going to look her up.

Oh … that Carrie Perjean. Poor doggies, the hounds really have their work cut out for them.

She set herself up to be a spokesperson and then betrayed those she claimed to be a spokesperson for. She’s going to get ripped to shreds. Besides being an embarrassment for Christians, she’s an embarrassment for women. She’ll manage to remain rich though and live a cushy life and will always believe there’s a spot reserved for her in her heaven.

Want to give out another Attie? How about this hopeless excuse for a human from Answers in Genesis who manages to biblically justify a hypotheical situation wherein a Christian is asked by Nazis during WWII to give up the location of hiding Jews and he justifies doing just that.

I can deal with a pitiful little girl who has used up her 15 minutes

Suddenly, someone (maybe herself, who knows?) has turned her into spokesperson for the “persecuted” conservative Christians in this country.

Unless I’m much mistaken, those poor persecuted Christians were the ones that did it. Sure, she supplied the posturing, but the wave of attention that she’s been riding so far came from conservative Christians holding her up as an illustration of Biblical morality under attack by our evil modern secular society.

It’s interesting to see how quickly that support evaporated once the news about her sex tape came out. And you can’t help feeling some sympathy for the poor conservatives, you know? The people they rely on to put a good public face on their bigotry keep getting disqualified for one reason after another – this one’s got a history, that one’s been seeing a male prostitute in between the anti-gay sermons…

Actually I support her right to have an opinion that differs from my own if her original comment is true. I thought she handled the loaded question from Hilton quite well. Frankly I don’t want support from Hilton if thats the kind she offers to gays.

Isn’t she just following in Palin’s footsteps now though? When is the book coming out?

You are right. She did handle the original comment well, whether you share her opinon or not. Hilton turned it into this big thing and instead of just handling gracefully, Prejean went the persecuted route.
