God doesn’t want anyone to have to suffer. By the fall of Adam and Eve, continued by us choosing to serve ourselves, we choose to suffer. God is a gentleman and will not force His will upon us. Although He desperately loves us and wants the best for us, by making even one choice to serve ourselves instead of God, we separate ourselves from Him. We can reconnect to Him through salvation; and while we are ensured eternity with God when we repent, we still have to deal with some of the residual effects of our choices and the choices others make.
