I get this email from the publisher that is reading my novel in response to a marketing plan I sent her.

“On vacation. Will write more next week.”

Good? Bad? Opinions? In writer agony!!!!!

Brutal. The nice thing about blogs is the instant feedback element (and not just one but many critical eyes). Can’t imagine trying to sell a book with a sea of fellow “writers” looking for recognition (the term is loose when quoted; Ken Ham, for example, is not a writer… he is a “writer”). Best of luck.

It’s her loss or gain. She’s the one who should be in suspense.

Yeah, Ryan, it’s horrible. I know she really likes the book, but we are waiting on her boss.

It’s unfortunately ordinary, is what it is. This sort of thing happens entirely too often to all sorts of creative professionals, sadly. I suppose they have to go on vacation sometime, but it always seems to be at such awkward times from the writer’s point of view, eh?

Oh yeah, no problem that she is on vacation, but to give that totally vague email!!! I dont know if they are going to publish and she needs time to lay out what that means or they aren’t so they will give me a long explanation why. I just want to know!
