Maybe the artist misinterpreted Matthew 27, 39-40:
39 And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads, 40 And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross.
Let’s add “lack of anticipation” to the list of artistic short comings, as follows:
1) Muscular Jesus shatters the cross and breaks his arms free.
2) Gravity takes effect and MJC falls to one side, but his feet remain pinned and he swings upside down in a most uncomfortably and undignified predicament.
wow you guys i think it could be said that the person made it saying he defeated death and the grave could not hold him. the cross was his death and not by any chance could it hold him. the perspective bad but lets not bash it.
Why are you all surprised? Yes he can do it, he is our God almighty… but think about it why didnt he do it? instead he took all the punishment and suffering that should be given to us…
Because he loves us and he wanted us to be saved
So that might be a wake up call, that he could leave us to die for our sins but instead he gave his life for us

Funny, he doesn’t look Jewish…
Jesus to replace Taylor Lautner in next Twilight pic!
Love the toenail polish, it’s simply fab with that loincloth.
I think someone misunderstood the term “Muscular Christianity”.
OMG and they think “we” are ruining christianity.
Bad taste, bad idea, bad draughting, bad brushwork, bad lighting, bad proportion, bad theology, bad anatomy…
I can’t find any redeeming qualities at all.

3) Roman soldiers laugh asses off.
“I’ll be back!”

Amber,
It’s bad theology. He didn’t break the cross and leave it. So, if it were better art, I might be willing to give a little more leeway.
